[qualification to be a manga artist]
After searching through the internet for the qualification to be a manga artist all i get is there is no formal qualification to be a maga artist. Manga artist jobs are based on portfolio content. However i manage to find the qualification to be an artist.

[the work]
Artists create original work by a range of methods, such as painting, drawing, graphic arts, printmaking, sculpture and photography. They may work from their own ideas or to an order (known as a commission) from an individual or an organisation.
As well as creating works of art, fine artists also need to promote and sell their work, either through an agent or personally through outlets such as galleries, exhibitions, shops, craft fairs and markets, festivals.

[skills and interests]
To be a fine artist you should:

-be creative
-have a good appreciation of colour and form
-have good communication skills to present ideas, and liaise and negotiate with other professionals
-be self-motivated and enjoy working alone
-be able to accept criticism
-have some business and financial skills in order to promote and market your work
-be able to cope with a fluctuating workload

[entry]
To be successful as an artist you will need skill and talent in your chosen art form. If you are exceptionally talented you may be able to sell your work without formal training or qualifications. However, most fine artists have some training in art or design.

It will be an advantage if you have qualifications which will help you to find paid work, as you are likely to need another job to supplement your income from art work, particularly at the start of your career. You should take this into consideration when planning your training and career development.

Many applicants also have one or more A levels, or the equivalent, and you will usually need to show a portfolio of work.

A comprehensive portfolio of work can be more important than qualifications - you might be able to get onto some courses without traditional academic entry requirements if you have a portfolio that shows exceptional creativity and talent. However, you will need academic ability to cope with the theory parts of most courses.

[Opportunities]
Many artists combine their work as an artist with paid work in related areas such as art education, community arts, gallery management, critical writing, project management and creative consultancy or in a completely different area.

There is no recognised career path and success depends on the amount of work sold

[annual income]
There is no set income for this role. Earnings will differ greatly depending on work opportunities and reputation. It is common for fine artists to earn their living from a combination of exhibiting and selling their creative work and part-time or full-time work in other fields.

-MY AMBITION-
Hey here to type about my ambition. I don't really know what I wanted to be when I grow up. I did think of it. When I was young I like to sing my younger brother too but most of the time parent praises my younger brother for singing well and encourage him to sing and go into competitions I did get jealous over it ha-ha. Anyway I did thing of being a singer, dancer and a manga artist. I know that having so many ambitions is very difficult to success as I might split my heart between it. If I wanted to success I can only concentrate on one ambition. As what will be the ambition am I going to concentrate on? Maybe manga artist. I started to draw manga drawing when I am in secondary two I drew one on my table copying from a comic book and from that day I tried drawing more if I look back to what I draw I will really tear it away cause it was really ugly. However, I didn’t stop drawing instead I tried to improve in it. I did improve a lot ha-ha.

Why do I choose to be a manga artist?
One of the reason is because I like to draw, drawing is full of meaning it’s able to express the feeling of the person that drawn the drawing. The main reason why I choose to be manga artist is because the drawing is nice, I like the imaginative story by those manga artist most of the time the story is ended with a happy ending after reading all those manga I also feel like drawing my own manga story and enjoy it with other people

What exactly is a manga drawing?
Manga is the Japanese word for comics and print cartoon. Outside of Japan, it usually refers specifically to Japanese comics. As of 2007, manga represents a multi-billion dollar global market. It comes mainly in black and white, except for the covers and sometimes the first few pages; in some Animanga all the pages are coloured.

History of manga
Manga, literally translated, means "random (or whimsical) pictures". The word first came into common usage in the late 18th century with the publication of such works as Suzuki Kankei's "Mankaku zuihitsu" (1771) and Santo Kyoden's picturebook "Shiji no yukikai" (1798), and in the early 19th century with such works as Aikawa Minwa's "Manga hyakujo" (1814) and the celebrated Hokusai manga containing assorted drawings from the sketchbook of the famous ukiyo-e artist Hokusai. However, giga (literally "funny pictures"), especially chōjū jinbutsu giga, drawn in the 12th century by various artists, contain many manga-like qualities such as emphasis on story and simple, artistic lines.click on HERE there are more information on manga.

Recently my english teacher, Miss chin, showed my class a video clip about "HAERTWARE" It is about national education. After watching the video clip i felt that even if my ambition is to be a manga artist i might go oversea and learn more about the drawing i will still come back to singapore as singapore give me a sence of belonging and singapore is a nation that is protected.

Now i will end here greeting your a HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR.^^
